ARTHUR SHILSTONE

Arthur Shilstone (1922-2020) was an acclaimed American watercolor artist, World War II Ghost Army veteran, and one of the nation's leading sporting artists. Influenced by Degas, Homer, and turner, he created luminous, atmospheric watercolors of wingshooters, hunting dogs, and the anglers in the field. His mastery of light, color, and sense of place places him among the finest traditions of American sporting art, often drawing comparisons to Ogden Pleissner. His work was featured numerous times in Gray's Sporting Journal magazine, earning recognition among art collectors and outdoor enthusiasts alike.
